An Abundant New Year

I don’t normally set an intention to have a word for the year, nevertheless they often come up. Last year was a year to be seen. To step into my full humanity and let others see me there. I didn’t plan it that way, but it was, and it was beautiful.

As I’ve recently pondered the things I want to accomplish in 2023, it has occurred to me that my word for this year is ABUNDANCE. I have so incredibly much, and this is a year for me to lean into really enjoying those things. Here’s what that’s going to look like for me:

  1. I will revisit (or visit for the first time… shh!) courses I’ve already enrolled in without signing up for more classes. I have access to all these wonderful assets and I’ve set a plan to intentionally and sustainably focus on using them for growth.

  2. I will not spend money on non-necessary physical items for myself. I have enough clothes, books, and games to last me a very long time, and I want to focus on using and appreciating the abundance I already have. There are a couple of exceptions here. I have at least two in-person events coming up that I’m going to buy outfits for. There are also some planned purchases I’ve been waiting on (like a new wallet, which I want to purchase from a leather artisan at the renaissance fair). I will be grateful for the abundance to make these planned purchases. Experiences also don’t count. I will always spend money on soul-refreshing experiences for myself and my family.

  3. I will avoid fast food. I’m not sure I’ll make it a whole year on this one, but I want to focus on the abundance of real food we have available, whether that’s made at home or made at a restaurant that takes some time. I don’t have to be in a rush. There’s an abundance of time in which to consume meals.

So there it is… a focus on appreciating the abundance I have in 2023.

Do you have intentions set specifically for the new year? I’d love it if you’d share them in the comments!
